Event overview

Facility management constitutes an exciting career path for platform scientists. The Canadian Network of Scientific Platforms, joint with our partners Global BioImaging (GBI), Canada BioImaging (CBI) and BioImaging North America (BINA) are jointly organizing a course focused on facility management. The course is open to core facility/scientific platform administrators, directors, managers and professional staff. While experts and examples may come from Imaging Facility Experts, the course will be broadly focused on management and leadership applicable to all forms of core facilities. The course will be fully in-person with a focus on small group discussions and building our network of platform scientists. This course will feature topics such as how to measure an impact of platforms, career development, leadership, facility operations, user training and train-the-trainer concepts. The full program will be available soon.
The course is limited to 50 places with 25 places reserved for CNSP members. GBI is providing financial support for course faculty and half of the course participants will be coming from a light microscopy background. The course will take place in-person only.


Event format

This event will take place in-person at the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (The Neuro).


Attendance fee

There will be a registration cost of $350 CAD plus applicable taxes for CNSP registration.

Prerequisites for application

• You must be a CNSP individual member to register for the course – (JOIN CNSP, select ‘Individual Member’ membership type)
• You must be employed by a nonprofit research institution (institute, university, etc.)
• You work in a scientific platform as a director, manager, or professional staff.
• If you have a job offer and will soon start a position as a platform staff please submit your application and also send a copy of your offer letter to cnsp.rcps@gmail.com.
• Applications from institutional platform administrators will also be considered.
