GUILLAUME LESAGE, TREASURER

McGill University

Initially trained as an engineer in Biotechnology and Food Engineering (INSA Toulouse, France), I have entered into the world of academic research in 1996: I have worked for 9 years as a research scientist (PhD in Biochemistry, University of Montreal; Post-doc and Research Associate in Yeast Functional Genomics, McGill University), published 13 research articles and 25 abstracts and gave 6 talks as an invited speaker. From 2006 to 2015 I have managed the Cell Imaging and Analysis Network, Department of Biology, McGill University. Responsible for the budget ($400K/year) and operations, I have planned, developed and implemented all administrative processes for this multi-technology core facility serving 120+ users/year. In addition, I have been in charge of budget planning & control, tender process & procurement, fund monitoring, record keeping, progress reports, and audits for an $8M multi-institutional CFI project (2008-2015). In September, 2015 I moved to a more administrative position as Grants Officer at the Strategic Initiatives Unit of the McGill Office of the VP Research and Innovation. In addition to administering a variety institutional grants and infrastructure programs (Canada Foundation for Innovation, Genome Canada/Quebec and other large scale infrastructure and network programs), I am actively involved in the internal audit of core facilities and the establishment of policies to structure, harmonize and coordinate the operations of McGill scientific platforms. From 2010 to 2016 I have been sitting on the CCMA Executive Board as the Treasurer. For 6 years I have been managing the CCMA finances, preparing tax reports and statements. I participated in the organization of 4 biannual CCMA symposia and I have been involved in organizing the 2017 CCMA symposium. As chair of the Outreach Committee, I participated in running a survey of Canadian core facilities and writing the CCMA position paper to CFI. As co‐chair of the Website committee I am responsible for Website content and translation. Lastly, as Cytotimes associate editor, I help in translating the CCMA newsletter.
